Report in the Nantwich Guardian 9th April 1915 regarding the death of John Roden

“Soldier killed in action – the village of Wrenbury mourns the death of a gallant soldier in the person of Private John Roden, King’s Own Royal Lancaster Regiment, who was killed in action on February 20th. The Vicar, commenting on the fact in this month’s issue of the parish magazine, writes – “Our heartfelt sympathy is offered to the relatives in all these cases of bereavement. John Roden is, as far as we know, the first from Wrenbury to give his life for his country in this war.””
