Born in Lyneal, Shropshire in 1885, the third son of Maria and the late Joseph James Speakman of Northwood, Wem, Shropshire.
Edwin died in the Albert Hall Military Hospital, Nottingham and was buried in the churchyard of St John the Baptist Church, Bettisfield.
The 1911 Census shows him as a resident servant to Gordon Thomas Groom, baker, miller and grocer in Bronington, Flintshire.
