Report in the Nantwich Guardian 8th October 1915 regarding the death of Herbert Bebbington

"Mr. Thomas Bebbington, of Nantwich, has been officially informed of the death of his son, Sergeant Herbert Bebbington, 5th Battalion King's Shropshire Light Infantry, in France, on September 25th. Sergeant Bebbington, who served his time as a printer with Mr. A. E. Hill, of Nantwich and was afterwards in the employ of Messrs. F. Pooley and Co., joined the battalion at Whitchurch in the first week of the war. He was instrumental in raising 100 men for the battalion. He was a most efficient soldier, and rapidly rose to the rank of sergeant. He will be remembered by many people as a playing member of Nantwich Cricket Club, and as a good bowler. Mr. T. Bebbington has two other sons serving with the forces. William Thornton Bebbington with the Canadian Contingent, and the other is in the Navy."
