Personal Details

Born:   31 May 1898 in Whitchurch, Shropshire.

Family:   He was the second of seven children born to Thomas Ernest Brayn and his wife Sarah Ann. He married Winifred Thorpe Quarter 2 1919, in Whitchurch, Shropshire. They had one daughter, Joan, born Quarter 3 1919.

Residence:   On 1901 and 1911 Censuses Charles was recorded as living at 2 Railway Inn Yard, Station Road, Whitchurch, Shropshire. By 1919 his family had moved to 37 Worthington Street. Some twenty years later he, his wife and daughter were at 7 Ash Lane, Ash, Shropshire.

Employment:   At the time of his enlistment Charles was described as an oil carter but by 1939 he had become an agricultural worker.

Died:   Quarter 3 1965, Whitchurch, Shropshire, aged 67.
