Family: He was the fifth of seven children born to William Broom, an agricultural labourer, and his wife Esther Annie. William does not appear to have married.
Residence: In 1891 he was living with his parents and siblings in St Winifried, Bickley, Cheshire; he continued to live in Bickley until at least 1901. He was boarding at Bickley Wood, Malpas, Cheshire in 1911. The 1939 Register shows him living at Bickley Moss, Tarvin, Cheshire.
Employment: He worked as a farm labourer all his life.
Died: September 1959 in Cheshire, aged 69.
