Born: 26 July 1892 in Bronington, Flintshire, Wales.

Family: He was the second of four children born to William Barlow, a house decorator, and his wife Annie Elizabeth Barlow. No marriage can be traced for Stanley.

Residence: In 1901 Stanley lived with his parents at The Checkoe, Bronington, Flintshire, Wales. By 1911 he was boarding at 120 Brook Street, Chester.
