Family: Only son of the six children born to John & Sarah Chidlow. In 1911 John married Lillie J Wilkinson at Whitchurch. Together they had five children Muriel L, Olive J, Beatrice M, John P and Ernest W, all births registered in Whitchurch.

Residence: John‘s birth was registered in Ellesmere, Shropshire, his mother’s birthplace. By 1891 the family were living in Post Office Lane, Whixall, Shropshire and were still there ten years later. By 1911 John was living with his employer at ‘The Oaklands’, Whitchurch, Shropshire. Eight years later John and Lillie’s marital home was 1 Park Road, Whitchurch and they were still at the same address in 1939.

Employment: In 1911 John was employed as a living-in groom and gardener. Twenty-eight years later, in 1939, his occupation was that of a carter in the grocery trade.

Died: In 1959 at Whitchurch aged 62
