Born in Burslem, Stoke on Trent, in 1886, the third son of John and Martha Webster of 17 Liverpool Road, Whitchurch.
He married the late Annie (nee Griffiths) Webster, of Ruabon, Denbighshire on 11th August 1910, father of Doris (born 5 November 1910), Jane (born 2 June 1913) and Annie (born 5 August 1915).
George was a Collier, working in Leigh, Lancashire when his wife died. His daughters were returned to Ruabon, in the care of his sister, Elizabeth Griffiths of New High Street, Ruabon. He had been in the Army for a short period, but discharged medically unfit (over-lapping toe, right foot). He re-enlisted on the 28th September 1914, and landed in France 23rd February 1915.
He is also commemorated on the Roll of Honour in the Lych Gate, St Mary’s Church, Ruabon.
