Frederick Phillips Pearson was born in Liverpool in 1880, the fourth son of Edward and Maria Pearson of 48 Edgeley Road, Whitchurch.
Frederick had served with the Cheshire Regiment in South Africa, and was awarded the Queens Medal with 3 clasps. In August 1914 he was working as a bank clerk in Wolverhampton and immediately volunteered to serve again.
