Born: 26 August 1896 in Whitchurch, Shropshire and baptised 16 September 1896 at St. Alkmund`s Parish Church, Whitchurch.
Family: He was the youngest of nine children born to John Matthew Field, a joiner, and his wife Eliza, nee Garner. He had seven sisters and one brother. He married Annie Snape Quarter 3 1920 in Whitchurch, Shropshire. They had four children, John, Joan, Norah and Eric.
Residence: At the time of his birth the family were living in Sharrow Mill Hill (probably Sherrymill Hill), Whitchurch. but by 1901 they had moved to Newtown, first to number 43 and then by 1911 to number 31. In 1939 and until the time of his death, Frank, his wife and family were living at Claypit Street Terrace.
Employment: In 1939 his occupation was described as an iron roofer.
Died: 13 February 1979, aged 82

Other Information: Frank’s only brother, John William Field, was killed in action in France, 22nd December 1914, aged 27 and is commemorated on the Whitchurch Town Memorial.
