Edward Thomas Roberts was born in Whitchurch in 1878, the fourth son of George and Louisa Roberts of the Mill House, Sherrymill Hill.
He worked as a Carter in the Corn Mill in Sherrymill Hill, before joining the Army.
Edward was the uncle of Alfred Darlington Roberts, who also lost his life in the Great War.
