Born:  Baptised at Whixall Chapel on 10 March 1877

Family: Son of  Anne Callcott and grandson of Robert and Mary Callcott. In 1900 Alfred married Mary Jane Mellors. The 1911 census indicates that they had 4 children still living, two of these were probably Robert Thomas and Frances Mary. Two further children were born to the couple: Mary and Alfred J in 1913 and 1915.

Residence: At the time of his baptism his mother lived in Whixall, Shropshire. Four years later Alfred was living with his grandparents at Mill Lanes, Prees, Shropshire. In 1891 he was still with them but the address was then Welsh End, Prees, Shropshire. Ten years later he was newly married and living at 6 Bargates, Whitchurch, Shropshire. The 1911 census records his address as 16 Pepper Street, Whitchurch, Shropshire however his wife’s name is crossed out and she is listed as an inmate in Whitchurch workhouse. In 1930 Alfred was still living at 16 Pepper Street.

Employment: In 1901 Alfred was working as a rural postman. Ten years later his occupation is that of farm labourer.

Died:  1930 in Whitchurch, Shropshire aged 52. Alfred was buried on 1 November 1930 in Whitchurch Cemetery.
