Report in the Whitchurch Herald 2nd February 1916 on the death of John Phillips

Letter received by Mr & Mrs Phillips;

“I am writing these few lines which are a very painful duty for me to perform, as I regret to say that Jack was killed in action on Jan 21st. J Fowles and myself offer you our deepest sympathy. We feel his loss very greatly; he was such a good chum. I have been told he was hit when helping to carry a wounded comrade out, so he died while performing a noble duty”

Signed J Lloyd
