Born in Aston, Birmingham in 1891, the eldest son of Thomas and Emily Hewitt.
Mrs. Hewitt would lose her three sons in the Great War. Thomas was possibly in the Army/Territorial’s before August 1914; he landed in France on the 21st December 1914.
