Born:   14 April 1884 and baptised 1 June 1884 at Church Hulme Parish Church, Church Hulme, Cheshire.

Family:   He was the youngest of five children born to George Henry Groves, a gardener, and his wife Amelia, nee Bailey. He married Eva K Jones in Quarter 1 1911 in Conway, Caernarvonshire. The couple had two children, Derek K and Dorothea M.

Residence:   Until at least 1901 he was living with his family in Back Lane, Holmes Chapel, Church Hulme, Congleton, Cheshire. By 1911 he had moved to 5 Park Road, Whitchurch, Shropshire. His address on the 1939 Register was 17 Park Road. This was also the address given for him on the 1919 Absent Voter List.

Employment:  Leigh was a tailor.

Died: Quarter 1 1971 in North Shropshire, aged 86.
