Family: He was the third of six children born to Charles Fowles, a tanner, and his wife Susannah. He married Kathleen Fanning in Quarter 3 1919 in Oldham, Lancashire. They had three children, Nora, George and Jean, all born in New York, U.S.A..
Residence: In 1891 his family were living at 4 Newtown, Whitchurch but by 1911 they had moved to 8 Newtown. This was the address given for him on the Spring Absent Voters List for Whitchurch. In 1920 he and his wife Kathleen emigrated to the U.S.A. living in New York and Newark, New Jersey.
Employment: In 1911 George was described as a labourer. When in U.S.A. he worked for the Aluminium Co. of America.
Died: October 1965 in New Jersey, U.S.A., aged 75
