Born in Liverpool, Lancashire on 24th April 1887, the illegitimate son of Sarah Carter (nee Bateman) and the late Amos Henry Lewis. Frederick was brought up by a Mrs Davies as Frederick Davies. His mother, Sarah Bateman, married William Carter in 1907.
The 1911 Census shows Frederick as a Post Office messenger.
Frederick was killed in France, shortly after arriving.
