Personal Details

Arthur Rice Birch was born in Newport, Shropshire on 13 July 1893, the eldest son of Thomas and Martha Birch of 25 Bishop Street, Cherry Orchard, Shrewsbury, Shropshire.

The 1911 Census shows him as a railway clerk, working for the London and North Western Railway.

Arthur enlisted on 24th September 1914 in Valcartier, Quebec, Canada.
