Born in Bradley, Cheshire in 1894, the third son of Abraham and Elizabeth Ann Darlington of Church Farm, Ightfield, Whitchurch, Shropshire.
The 1911 Census shows Abraham as working on his father’s farm.
Abraham’s elder brother, William Charles Darlington, was also killed in the Great War.
