Prees Memorial

The memorial is outside St Chad’s Church, Prees, with a plaque inside the church.

This is an ongoing project, information will be added to the website over the coming weeks and months. It is hoped that the people of Whitchurch, Shropshire and beyond will get involved and provide additional information and images to each entry on the memorials.

Prees Memorial — 4 Comments

  1. Hello. Looking to see if you have any information on Sgt Reginald Frank Batho, born in Prees 1916. Joined RAF Bomber Command and sadly died 6 Aug 1940 over the North Sea. Parents were Fank and Laura Batho of Prees. I was wondering if his name is on a memorial in the church. Many thanks.

    • Hello; Sgt Reginald Frank Batho’s name is not on the war memorial in Prees, Shropshire. The memorial is outside the church in the centre of the village and I will separately send you a couple of photos of it. I’m afraid the church is not open due to Covid-19 restrictions so I cannot check if there is a separate memorial inside. The CWGC record indicates that his parents were living in Coventry when he died. As the last census record available is for 1911 we cannot check for how long he was living in Prees. His parents married in 1914 in Doncaster, Yorkshire; the marriage record shows his wife’s name as Larina A Foster. I’m afraid we have no more information than this.
